Although agrochemicals applied in the course of almond bloom are generally regarded bee-safe when applied alone, their combined effects to honey bees are largely untested. In current years, beekeepers giving pollination services to California’s almond orchards have reported reductions in queen good quality in the course of and promptly just after bloom, raising issues that pesticide exposure could be involved.
